Worcester hosts a wealth of welfare support options: from JCR Welfare reps and peer supporters; to our chaplain team; to our head-of-welfare and on-site counsellor, Georgie Heywood (georgina.heywood@worc.ox.ac.uk). Georgie is available for bookable or walk-in appointments 9-5, Monday-Friday, and even into the vacation period between terms, and that provision is a real privilege.
The JCR Welfare reps host at least one event every week, which is a good opportunity to take a break from the rush of Oxford. You can always grab a snack, chat with friends, or chat with the reps themselves, who are required to undergo extensive peer support training before taking on the role and are thus equipped to deal with all sorts of difficult conversations, and to direct people to further support where necessary. Worcester’s regular welfare events include Tea@3, Cake@8 or Wine@9 - the names are intended to be self-explanatory (the food on offer and when)!
I’m the JCR Female Welfare Rep (2025-6) and have found the role very genuinely rewarding, as well as just good fun! If you have any more questions about the welfare support available at Worcester, send me an email!
I'm the JCR male welfare rep and have really loved being in the role! Its important to have a variety of points of contact in college, and so we offer a relaxed space for students to come talk to us about any issues during designated peer support sessions, cake@8s, tea@3s, wine@9s, G&Ds trips and more!
